For over 25 years, Origin Live founder Mark Baker searched for a record mat that would hold the LP securely on the turntable without producing any negative sound effects. It was not until 2020 that he succeeded in developing such an accessory himself with the Origin Live Gravity One.

In 2025, he is now launching the Gravity TWO, the advanced successor to this product.

The Gravity TWO from Origin Live reduces vibrations when playing records, resulting in a noticeable improvement in sound quality. It reveals greater detail in recordings and allows instruments to be perceived more clearly. The bass sounds deeper and more defined. The spatial representation has greater depth.

Gravity TWO works with all types of turntables. However, rubber mats reduce its effectiveness. Gravity One works particularly well in combination with the Origin Live mat.

Vibrations are the natural enemy of analogue sampling – every vinyl lover should be aware of this by now. Reflected sound, footfall noise, motors, power supplies, etc. cause the turntable and spindle to be affected by unwanted vibrations, which are naturally also transferred to the rotating record: the cartridge is forced to pick up the signal on "rough seas" instead of gliding through calm grooves.

This is why record clamps, stabilisers and record weights have been developed, which use "pressure" to fix the record flat on the platter, improve contact between the record and the turntable or turntable mat, and thus reduce vibrations and resonances. Depending on the design and material, such analogue accessories have different advantages – but often also disadvantages. Mark Baker, head and founder of Origin Live, has naturally also addressed the problem of sound-impairing turntable vibrations and, with "Gravity Two", has developed a solution for audiophiles who demand uncompromising sound quality.

Mark Baker did not find the solution overnight: for more than 25 years, he experimented with designs that fix the record to the turntable without producing unwanted sound effects. In 2020, the time had come: Origin Live presented Gravity One – a turntable attachment that highly effectively reduced vibrations during record playback, resulting in a clearly audible improvement in sound quality. Weighing only 67 grams, the "Gravity One" worked well with all types of turntables and became a perennial favourite in the Sieveking Sound accessories catalogue.

But anyone who knows Mark Baker knows that the gifted developer never rests on his laurels and is always on the lookout for potential improvements. This ultimately led to the proven concept of the Gravity One being put to the test. At the end of the day, a new development emerged: Gravity Two! It retains the feather-light design of its predecessor, but enhances its sonic advantages. Gravity Two can keep up with heavier weights with its deeper, more controlled bass response – without sacrificing the richness of detail in the midrange or the openness in the high frequencies, as is the case with heavier weights. Instruments and voices are placed precisely against a silent, black background, eliminating the sonic "inaccuracies" of lighter disc weights. The "sharpness" and "brightness" sometimes perceived in music are often not characteristics of the recording, but accompanying effects of unwanted resonances. The use of Gravity Two reduces these, allowing voices to flow with natural warmth and every note to gain substance and body.

Gravity Two uses a harmonious mix of materials including wood, metals, composites and polymers: the outer shell is made of a special anti-resonant polymer that is significantly different from Delrin and was selected for its excellent damping properties. Structural ribs increase rigidity, while lightweight metal elements effectively dissipate vibration energy. Each material has been carefully tested and tuned to improve performance.
