HiFiMAN HE1000 Unveiled – open-back magnetostatic headphones

At HiFiMAN, ‘Unveiled’ means that headphones are developed without compromise to deliver the very best sound. It all began with the Susvara Unveiled reference headphones, and the HE1000 Unveiled now follows as the next step.

To fully showcase the sonic capabilities of the magnetostatic drivers with their transparent, wafer-thin diaphragm, rounded ‘Stealth’ magnets are symmetrically positioned on both sides. A thin fleece protects the driver on the side facing the ear, whilst the outer side is completely open. As a result, the HE1000 Unveiled offers greater airiness and spatial depth compared to the HE1000SE with its protective grille. However, before the musical fireworks really get going, you should allow the headphones a good 150 hours of burn-in time. Only then will the warmth of the fundamental tones and the bass power be fully developed.

The HE1000 Unveiled is largely made of aluminium and, like its sister models, offers plenty of space inside the faux-leather ear pads, ensuring that even listeners with large ears are comfortable. The headband is made of faux leather and holds its position easily once initially adjusted. Three connection cables with resonance-damping fabric sheathing are included.

To protect the HE1000 Unveiled from metallic objects attracted by the powerful bar magnets, the protective covers supplied should always be used when the headphones are not in use. Otherwise, paper clips, earrings and other objects whose magnetism you’ve never given a second thought to will very quickly find their way inside.

For maximum sound performance, we recommend using a high-quality, high-performance headphone amplifier. Despite the headphones’ actually quite high efficiency, amplifiers delivering more than 1 watt into 28 ohms make a noticeable difference. We recommend Cardas cables – such as the Clear Headphone – as an upgrade for these headphones.

Due to their design, these headphones are not intended for use on the move. Not everyone wants to listen in on your music on the train.
