Floyd fans have been longing for it - finally the legendary masterpiece "Animals" is available on SACD in 5.1 surround and stereo. This marks yet another Pink Floyd classic getting a multi-channel re-release, which of course also includes the stunning 2018 stereo mix created by long-time producer and sound engineer James Guthrie.

"Animals" is a concept album that explores socio-political conditions in mid-1970s Britain and is a departure from the style of the band's earlier work. The album was developed from a collection of disjointed songs into a concept that describes the apparent social and moral decay of society and compares the condition of humans to that of animals. In the style of George Orwell's Animal Farm, the album depicts people as animals, with the pigs at the top of the social chain, descending to the sheep who do as they are told as a mindless herd, while the dogs are the business bosses who get rich off the money and power they have over the others. Although much time has passed since 1977, the album's message is still relevant today.
