Anne Bisson - Blue Mind / Ultimate Hi Quality CD (UHQCD)

Anne Bisson was completely unknown at the time of Blue Mind's first release in the German-speaking world. The Canadian comes from the province of Quebec and lives in Montréal. She has undergone rigorous training in classical piano and singing and has won countless awards in Canada. This jazz album, however, is very personal, with eight self-written, deeply emotional songs in outstanding sound quality.

Bisson worked out all the songs and got to know two professional session musicians of the label Fidelio Musik in the studio. The drummer Paul Brochu also teaches at the University of Montréal and has toured all over Europe as a percussionist. Double bassist Normand Guilbeault plays jazz with passion and is the organiser of the Montreal OFF Festival de Jazz. This trio harmonizes as if it were meant for each other. The entire recording was produced in less than two days.

This would not be so interesting for the audiophile music listener, if the recording hadn't been technically outstanding. In the studio reference in St. -Calixte, the finest Neumann and B&K microphones were used to capture an amazing analog tape recording (!). This studio actually uses Shunyata audiophile cables and amplification is done by the Canadian manufacturer MOON. Then only the track Dragonfly with overdubs was used for the entire recording - all other pieces are presented as they were actually recorded. An absolute rarity in modern productions.

UHQCD stands for Ultimate High Quality Compact Disc and is a joint development of the Japanese CD-ROM replication company Memory-Tech and the Audio Quality CD Company from Hong Kong. Unlike conventional CDs, UHQCDs are not pressed from polycarbonate, but are cast from a photopolymer and cured with UV light. To protect the softer photopolymer, a further layer of high-purity polycarbonate is applied as scratch protection. The combination results in a significantly reduced reflection of the laser light inside the CD and an unequalled precise edge transition between the pits and lands of the CD. UHQCDs are 100% compatible with normal CD players. Musically, the result is a sound image reminiscent of analog master tapes.
